The International Working Group (IWG) on Women and Sport is the world’s largest network dedicated to advancing equity and equality for women and girls in sport and physical activity.

Our goal is simple: we want more women and girls everywhere to have the chance to be active and enjoy sport.

As the global network of networks, we bring together organisations, leaders and advocates to share insight, swap tools and build connections that make change possible.

By working together, we’re creating more opportunities for women and girls to play, to lead and to thrive - and making sport a place where everyone belongs.

Who We Work With

International
Federations

We help international federations turn equity pledges into
global impact.

As the custodian of the Brighton plus Helsinki Declaration and host of the IWG Global Summit, we offer a platform to lead by example, access world-leading insight, and collaborate on scalable strategies that advance gender equity across all levels of sport.

Government Bodies

For policymakers and government agencies, we provide the global evidence, partnerships and advocacy frameworks needed to embed gender equity into national sport systems.

We support your commitments with proven tools, international standards and a network of changemakers shaping inclusive policy worldwide.

Sports
Administrators

Whether you're managing clubs, leagues or entire systems, we equip sport administrators with the resources and peer connections to make equity real - from boardrooms to locker rooms.

We help you build inclusive environments where women and girls can thrive as athletes, coaches, officials and leaders.

Academics & Researchers

We connect academics with a global platform to share critical research that informs policy, practice and progress.

Through the IWG Insight Hub and our international network, your work reaches the right people - those driving gender equity on the ground and in the boardroom.

Grassroots Practitioners

From local coaches to community sport leaders, we offer practical resources, global case studies and a support network to help you champion equity where it
matters most.

Join a worldwide movement committed to ensuring every woman and girl has a chance to play, grow and lead through sport.

Be Part of a Global Movement.

Connecting people; Powering Progress.

IWG connects hundreds of organisations and thousands of individuals across every continent - from international federations and governments to grassroots leaders and academic institutions.

We act as a “network of networks,” bringing people and organisations together to share ideas, build connections and drive progress. Our work is guided by the Brighton plus Helsinki Declaration - a global framework for gender equity in sport - with a clear focus on opening up more chances for women and girls to take part, build skills and feel confident in sport and physical activity.

Make a Commitment
to Equity.

From Principles to Action

The Brighton plus Helsinki Declaration is the global framework for gender equality in sport. First agreed in Brighton in 1994 and strengthened in Helsinki in 2014, it is now backed by more than 600 organisations across the globe.

At its heart are 10 Principles - covering opportunity, leadership, resources, research, education and representation - all designed to make sport more inclusive for women and girls everywhere.

This commitment is already shaping policies and practice worldwide. By signing the Declaration, your organisation can:

  • Publicly commit to advancing gender equality in sport

  • Access advocacy tools and frameworks for best practice

  • Be recognised as part of the global movement for change

From international federations and governments to national governing bodies and community clubs - this is where change begins.
