Inspire Showcase Schedule

The Inspire Showcase is a FREE virtual event that will give you a taste of the virtual experience for the upcoming 8th IWG World Conference, 14-17 November 2022.

You need to be registered by Monday 11 July, 5pm (NZST) to access the event. Register now!

The schedule below is in local time (NZST).

Schedule:

8:00am – Virtual platform opens

8:30am – Official Opening | Mihi Whakatau
A formal welcome led by Ngāti Whātua Ōrakei. They are the iwi (tribe) partner for the current Secretariat – Women in Sport Aotearoa, Ngā Wāhine Hākinakina o Aotearoa

Your Kaiwhakataki (MC),  Sarah Cowley Ross will guide you through the Showcase.

8:40am – Featured Speaker | Māreikura
Dr Farah Palmer (NZ) – The power of being an indigenous woman

8:50am – Featured Speaker | Māreikura
Dr Diane Culver (CA) – Explore social learning principles

9:00am – Featured Speaker | Māreikura
Robyn Cockburn (NZ) – Co-designing a global conference and preview of the 8th IWG World Conference on Women & Sport

9:10am – Collective Action Workshop | Awheawhe me korero tene
Join one of three workshops based on the three talks. These short and sharp workshops will have a lead facilitator to help participants dive deeper into the subject, and achieve learning and collaboration.

9:30am – Workshop Wrap Up
A summary of each workshop will be presented back by the lead facilitator.

9:43am – Official closing | Mihi Whakamutunga
Formal closing of the event led by Ngāti Whātua Ōrakei.

Māori Kupu:

The indigenous language of Aotearoa, New Zealand, reo Māori will feature throughout the programme.  To assist you with the kupu (words) please familiarise yourself with the below:

  • Kia ora – Hello
  • Tena koutou – Hello everyone
  • Kaiwhakataki – MC or Master of Ceremonies
  • Mihi Whakatau – Welcome: A formal speech to open a gathering/event
  • Mihi Whakamutunga – Closing Remarks: A formal speech to close a gathering/event
  • Māreikura – Featured Speaker: In Māori mythology, Māreikura are the supreme goddesses of the twelfth heaven. The twelfth heaven is all female and the highest of all the spiritual realms. During the Inspire Showcase and the IWG World Conference, female speakers will be acknowledged as Māreikura.
