The IWG Global Executive is delighted to support this week’s announcement, regarding the launch of the Global Observatory for Women, Sport, Physical Education and Physical Activity in Lausanne, Switzerland.
IWG, along with WomenSport International (WSI) and the International Association of Physical Education and Sport for Girls and Women (IAPESGW), worked extensively in partnership with one another and with UNESCO to write the Feasibility Study in 2020 and set the foundations. We are now delighted to see the Swiss authorities commit to setting it up, thus fulfilling the ambition of the Kazan Action Plan.
The Observatory seeks to overcome global and systemic inequalities for girls and women in sport. It will support the advancement of quantitative and qualitative research on the practice of women’s sport to create unified evaluation methodologies and to guide governmental and non-governmental actors in the design of action plans accelerating gender equality in and through sport.
We are delighted to have been part of the development of this important programme of work and look forward to furthering our contribution in the near future.
