Today we catch-up with Nicky van den Bos, newly appointed to the senior full-time position of Programme Director at Women in Sport Aotearoa, delivery agency for the International Working Group (IWG) on Women & Sport Secretariat & Conference 2018 – 2022.

Nicky has joined after nearly three years with New Zealand Cricket, most recently as the Head of Events. In this role, she led a team delivering more than 20 international matches around Aotearoa New Zealand each season.

In her new role as Programme Director, Nicky will be in charge of leading all global and local programmes, notably the Sport NZ Women + Girls Summit events in 2020 and 2021 and 8th IWG World Conference on Women & Sport, 5 -8 May 2022. The latter is one of the “big four” women’s sports events coming to Aotearoa between 2021 – 2023, with the women’s World Cups in Rugby, Cricket and Football also being hosted. It is the largest global gathering of experts on gender equity in sport and physical activity, with 2,000+ expected across the physical-digital hybrid programme.

In these quick bite-sized conversations, moderated by the IWG Secretary General Rachel Froggatt, we will connect with leaders from all over the sector in Aotearoa New Zealand and globally, to find out what they are seeing, how they are managing and what they are learning during rebuild and recovery from this unprecedented situation.
