Date to submit Expression of Interest to host IWG extended to 30 November 2020.

Every four years since 1994, the International Working Group (IWG) on Women and Sport Secretariat & World Conference has moved to a new host. Aotearoa New Zealand (Women in Sport Aotearoa) is currently hosting the 2018 – 2022 quadrennial and 8th IWG World Conference on Women and Sport in Auckland and online from 5-8 May 2022.

The bid process for the next quadrennial has been open since 1 July 2020 and Expressions of Interest (EOI) were originally due by 30 September 2020.

Listening to feedback from the various groups potentially interested in hosting the next quadrennial, the IWG Global Executive has this week agreed to extend the deadline for a further two months, to 30 November 2020. With the impacts of COVID-19 still being felt deeply, several groups have asked for more time to assess the opportunity to bid.

No changes have been made to any other dates. Full bid submissions are still due by 31 March 2020 and a decision on the next host nation will still be made in June 2021 at the IWG AGM.

The bid includes:

* The position of IWG Co-Chair in 2022 – 2026;

* Hosting the IWG Secretariat from September 2022 – 2026; and

* Hosting the 9th IWG World Conference on Women and Sport in May/June 2026.
