Dorcas Makgato visits New Zealand ahead of the 8th IWG World Conference

The patron for the 7th IWG World Conference in Botswana, Dorcas Makgato visited Auckland today. She was accompanied by Raewyn Lovett (IWG Co-Chair) and Women in Sport Aotearoa CEO, Rachel Froggatt on a tour of some of Auckland city’s landmark venues including the Aotea Centre, where the 8th IWG World Conference will be staged on May 2022. Ms Makgato is now Botswana High Commissioner to Australia and New Zealand based in Canberra. 

IWG Co-Chair, Raewyn Lovett joined Ms Makgato on her tour of the city today. She said: “It’s wonderful to host Dorcas today as we continue to foster the relationship between past and current IWG hosts.”

“The programming team have been working with great enthusiasm as we all learn to navigate the hosting of a major international event during COVID times. We look forward to all those that can join us in person or online for the conference.” 

Speaking from the Aotea Centre, Ms Makgato said: “I’m very excited about the plans to offer a hybrid physical-digital experience that will help us stay connected and ensure world-wide collaboration on gender equality is preserved regardless of COVID-19 impacts.”
