IWG Women And Sport Appoints Strategic Communications Manager

The International Working Group on Women and Sport (IWG) has appointed Abby Burton in the role of Strategic Communications Manager to support on the delivery of the IWG’s 2022-2026 strategic plan during the Secretariat’s term in the UK.

Burton brings extensive experience of sports PR and communications to the growing IWG team, having worked at British Cycling for 14 years where she managed all communications for the Great Britain Cycling Team, including at three Olympic and one Paralympic Games. More recently, she was a member of the communications team at the Rugby League World Cup 2021.

Secretary General Lisa O’Keefe said: “I’m thrilled to welcome Abby onto the team as Strategic Communications Manager. Her knowledge and skills combined with her passion for progressing women and girls sport will be invaluable as we work towards creating impact and legacy for the IWG.”
