The IWG Secretariat travelled to Frankfurt, Germany, last week to meet with colleagues at The Association for International Sport for All (TAFISA). The visit enabled both teams to explore opportunities to work together given the synergies between the IWG 2022-26 Strategic Plan and TAFISA’s Mission 2030.
TAFISA, who are signatories to the Brighton plus Helsinki Declaration, have a relationship with the IWG dating back to 2011, and have worked closely with previous Secretariats to tackle barriers women and girls face to taking part in sport and physical activity.
Secretary General Lisa O’Keefe said: “It was a privilege to be hosted so warmly by colleagues at TAFISA and to spend dedicated time together to talk through and explore the opportunities to work together and increase our impact.
“We were able to update each other on our respective priorities and see clear opportunities to collaborate given the prominence of gender equality within Mission 2030.
“We are grateful to our Global Executive member Game Mothibi for organising our itinerary, and to President Wolfgang Baumann, Secretary General Jean-Francois Laurent and the whole team for their time and approach to exploring options.
“We are really looking forward to developing some of the ideas discussed in the meeting which we believe will deliver enhanced impact.”
