The International Working Group (IWG) on Women and Sport is governed by the IWG Global Executive, an international board of 12 individuals considered to be experts in the field of gender equity in sport and physical activity, diversity and inclusion. Representing different organisations and geographical regions, the Global Executive contribute expertise in key areas including governance, leadership, administration, academia and global consultancy.
By statute, the organisational structure of the IWG Global Executive consists of:
- Two co-chairs
- Two NGO representatives
- Five regional representatives (Africa, Americas, Europe, Asia, Oceania)
- Three co-opted experts

For the current quadrennial period, representatives include members from the United Kingdom, New Zealand, Botswana, Japan, Austria, Canada, Costa Rica, the Republic of Palau, Switzerland, and Cameroon.
